 DREAM AGAIN

Day 5

Thursday, January 6

Read:

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Devote:

Joseph went from the pit to the palace, to prison and then finally he stands as the Prime Minister of Egypt. One would have to admit that Joseph had ample reason to give up, throw in the towel, become a victim and allow his dream to die. I am sure thankful he did not give up halfway; the entire nation of Israel survived because Joseph refused to give up his God-dream. Joseph was afforded an opportunity to stand before Pharaoh and interpret his dream putting Joseph in a powerful position to lead and rule over not only his brothers who sold him but nations. I remember preparing this sermon for church on dreams and was so very inspired by the life of Walt Disney. Today thousands of people enjoy a place of fun, joy, music, and laughter. It is a place where the oldest person can become a child again and live in a dream world of joy and peace, and this place was birthed out of a dream in the heart of the man Walt Disney. As I read about his life, I discovered that he created this magical place in his mind to escape his strict and disciplinarian father who administered "corrective" beatings as part of his daily life. Like Joseph, Walt Disney also faced many challenges like losing his work because it was not copyrighted, he had to give up his apartment and lived in his office surviving on eating just cold beans. He started with a dream that created something magical, and it lives on today long after he has gone. Perhaps you have come to a place where you have given up on your dreams, and your life has lost its luster, your passion from when you were younger might have died. I want to encourage you today, "Please don't give up." God has a good plan for your life and though you might have faced setbacks don't let that keep you down. John Barrymore said, "A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams." Don't let your dream die with you; dare to see your dreams become a reality.

Journal:

Write down the ways your loved ones would be blessed if your God-dream came true.

Reflect:

What does not giving up on your dream look like for you?

Pray:

Lord, thank you for showing me that my life is not over and I can see my dreams come through. Today I realize I am not poor because I still have a God-dream. Amen.
